Full Stack Engineer

Position Summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is seeking a Sr. Staff Software Engineer to serve as the Full Stack Software Discipline Lead within the Software Engineering Center of Technical Excellence (CoTE). Reporting to the AS Software Systems Capabilities Director, you will act as the senior technical authority overseeing the tools, processes, training, and performance metrics ecosystem across full-stack software domains (ground-based mission planning, command-and-control, data dissemination, and training software).

This is a strategic, governance-focused leadership role rather than a hands-on daily coding position. You will architect and sustain an enabling environment that empowers product teams to deliver mission capabilities safely, efficiently, and at scale.

Responsibilities

• Define technical vision and priorities for the Full Stack Software discipline aligned with sector strategy.
• Lead the development, deployment, and sustainment of standardized tools, digital solutions, and training frameworks across programs.
• Establish and cultivate a vibrant Software Community of Practice (CoP) to foster cross-program collaboration, software reuse, and best-practice sharing.
• Perform root-cause analysis on performance shortfalls, establish corrective action plans, and drive continuous software delivery improvements (targeting >15% process acceleration).
• Oversee governance for Cross-Domain Solutions (CDS) across security enclaves, Risk Management Framework (RMF/NIST 800-53) compliance, and automated security pipelines.

• Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Azure, OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Ansible, CI/CD (GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
• Software Construction & APIs: Java, Web Frameworks, Python, Node.js, REST, GraphQL, gRPC, UI/UX Standards.
• Geospatial & Standards: GIS formats (DTED, GeoTIFF, OGC), PostGIS, CesiumJS, Universal Command Interface (UCI), STANAG 4586, Open Architecture (OMS/GRA).
• Human Factors & Usability: MIL-STD-1472, HFE task analysis, cognitive workload metrics, WCAG accessibility, Cypress/Selenium.
