Full Stack Developer - USA | Remote

About the Role

ASSYST is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Java Full Stack Developer to join its client's dynamic engineering team supporting enterprise-scale application development. This remote role is associated with Washington, D.C. and focuses on leading a team of developers while remaining hands-on with architecture, development, deployment, and technical delivery. The successful candidate will take ownership of the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and architectural design through development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and post-release support. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader with strong Java and Angular expertise who can mentor engineers and drive technical excellence within a collaborative Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, guide, and mentor a team of 5–10+ software engineers.
• Foster technical excellence, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
• Drive architectural design and hands-on development of complex, scalable full-stack applications.
• Develop enterprise applications using Spring Boot and Angular.
• Own the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and post-release support.
• Champion and actively participate in Agile and Scrum ceremonies.
• Facilitate the breakdown of epics into actionable user stories.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to achieve sprint objectives.
• Conduct rigorous code reviews and promote software development best practices.
• Advocate for Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
• Maintain high standards of code quality using tools such as SonarQube.
• Serve as a key technical point of contact for cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and management.
• Communicate technical solutions, project status, risks, and delivery considerations effectively.
• Support project delivery under tight deadlines.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven experience working as a Technical Lead or Team Lead.
• Demonstrated success delivering complex, enterprise-grade applications.
• Deep expertise in Java, including Java 8, 11, and 17.
• Strong experience with the Spring Boot ecosystem, including Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, and Spring Security.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Strong experience with microservices architecture.
• Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Strong understanding of scalability, performance tuning, and distributed systems.
• Proficiency with modern Angular 12+.
• Strong TypeScript and RxJS experience.
• Experience with NgRx and state management.
• Experience developing modular, scalable, and responsive Single-Page Applications (SPAs).
• Strong understanding of UI/UX best practices and modern component libraries.
• Advanced experience with relational database management systems, including PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
• Strong SQL skills, including complex queries and database optimization.
• Experience with Hibernate and JPA.
• Hands-on experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using technologies such as Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Redis.
• Experience using NoSQL technologies for high-performance application scenarios.
• Experience working across enterprise-scale development environments.
• Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams.
• Experience working closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
