About the role
Join Schwab Technology Services as a Full Stack Developer to contribute to the development of innovative, reliable technology solutions that support Schwab’s financial planning capabilities. You will work in an Agile environment, collaborating with product owners, architects, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to design, develop, test, deploy, and support high-quality applications and microservices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance scalable, resilient software solutions aligned with business priorities and client needs.
- Participate in code reviews, maintain CI/CD-driven development workflows, and ensure quality through automated testing and trunk-based development practices.
- Support production environments, troubleshoot issues with urgency and accountability, and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from refining requirements to delivering production-ready solutions.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of application development and software engineering experience.
- 2+ years of experience developing web applications using Angular or similar modern front-end frameworks.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java development.
- Experience using build automation tools such as Maven or Gradle.
- Experience designing, developing, and supporting RESTful APIs and distributed services.
- Experience delivering software solutions that align with established design principles and business objectives.
- Experience participating in engineering best practices, including code reviews, service discovery, testing, and environment management.
- Experience working with relational database technologies.
- Experience using source code management tools such as GitHub.
- Ability to support production environments, including participation in on-call support as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively, communicate technical concepts clearly, and incorporate feedback in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical decisions.
Qualifications
- Experience within the Financial Services industry is preferred.
- Experience incorporating quality engineering and test automation practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub, Bamboo, or similar platforms.
- Experience working with cloud-based environments, including private cloud platforms such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) and public cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience leveraging AI-enabled development tools, engineering automation, or productivity-enhancing technologies.
- Experience mentoring or coaching junior engineers and contributing to team development.
