About the role
As a Fulfillment Operations Team Leader, you’ll enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring products are picked, prepped, packed, sorted, and shipped safely, efficiently, and effectively. This role provides opportunities to build and develop skills for a career through guest service fundamentals, retail business insights, workload planning, and team leadership.
Responsibilities
- Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly experience.
- Ensure every team member understands, is trained on, and consistently delivers on Target’s guest experience commitments and operational standards.
- Actively observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments.
- Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align the team on the right behaviors and execution.
- Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience; model, train, and coach expectations to deliver the service standard.
- Lead your team and drive fulfillment goals, understanding your role in supporting sales growth and how your departments contribute to total store profitability.
- Utilize workload planning tools to ensure your team completes all scheduled workload and orders are fulfilled to meet delivery, freshness, and service standards.
- Review fulfillment reporting to identify gaps and develop a plan to resolve them.
- Create daily plans for your team with direction from your direct leader.
- Be an expert of operations, accuracy, process, and efficiency; enable efficient delivery to guests by leading pickup and ship-from-store workload.
- Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team.
- Establish clear goals around quality, accuracy, and timeliness with your direct leader and hold team members accountable to expectations.
- Close training gaps through coaching conversations.
- Ensure the team follows food safety guidelines and selects fresh food items for guests; ensure supplies are ordered timely and stocked.
- Occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities to enable the guest experience during assigned shifts.
- Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences.
- Lead and demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; hold others accountable to this commitment.
- Model safe behaviors, identify and correct hazards, and assist with incident response and reporting.
- Support merchandise protection strategies across the store, including ordering, storage, and application as directed by best practices.
- Lead and demonstrate execution of all best practices as outlined in team onboarding and learning; help close skill gaps through development and coaching.
- Address all store emergency and compliance needs.
- Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU), and Drive Up (DU) while maintaining a compliance culture.
- Perform all other duties based on business needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
- Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
- Effective communication skills.
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
- Interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately.
- Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
- Climb up and down ladders.
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance.
- Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays) with reliable and prompt attendance.
Skills
- Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first culture.
- Retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing, and promotions strategies.
- Planning department(s) daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver sales goals.
- Process improvements and workload efficiency.
- Leading a team of hourly team members, including interviewing, developing, coaching, evaluating, and retaining talent.

Pay
The starting pay range for this position is $23.75 - $25.75 per hour. The full pay range is $23.75 - $40.40 per hour. Pay is based on several factors, including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
Schedule
This role requires a flexible work schedule with varying hours, days, or shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, closing shifts, and other peak shopping times.
