Fuel Operations Specialist
About the Role
The Fuel Operations Specialist is responsible for validating that all maintenance needs are met so that stations are fully operational during all club hours of operation. This is a full-time position that requires weekend availability, including Saturdays and/or Sundays, to support operational needs. The role also includes participation in a rotating after-hours on-call program to address urgent club issues and ensure business continuity. The Fuel Operations Specialist collaborates with Team Members, Vendors, Information Technology, and Solution providers that conduct maintenance activities to keep stations operational. This position requires the combination of technical expertise, organization, and the ability to act based on the needs of the business. The individual for this role must operate with a sense of urgency, possess strong critical thinking skills, have excellent problem-solving capability, and have strong interpersonal skills to partner with various internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the opening of new fueling stations. Team members will travel to conduct on-site training courses, coordinate preopening inspections, and ensure stations are operationally ready for opening.
- Review all maintenance requests and dispatch vendors to address issues.
- Build partnerships with new and existing maintenance vendors to ensure the fueling stations are adequately supported.
- Review key maintenance metrics such as flow rate data and pump down reports. Implement preventative actions based on the data to deliver an unbeatable experience to our members.
- Support compliance actions as needed to ensure that all BJ's fueling facilities are compliant with state, local and federal regulations in the areas of safety, environmental and staff training certification. This includes managing Class EPA certified operator training and annual inspections at all fueling facilities.
- Escalate maintenance risks to management and bring forward solutions to keep our fueling stations running optimally.
- Contribute to process improvement and assist in various department projects as needed to meet company objectives.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in Natural Science, Finance, Construction Management, Petroleum Engineering, Project management, or related field (or related experience).
- EPA Class A, B or C certification preferred.
- 2+ years of related work experience conducting maintenance activities for fuel stations or facilities.
- 5+ years of experience in retail fuel facility operations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of gas station operations and respective processes preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of underground storage tanks and fueling systems.
- Outstanding written and oral communication.
- Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Proven interpersonal and customer relations skills.
Schedule
This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $58,000.00 - $74,000.00
