Fuel/Hazmat Specialist Trainee - PIZ

About the role

The role involves monitoring the inventory of diesel fuel in storage and, upon obtaining a CDL, operating a fuel truck to safely transport and deliver fuel to North Slope Borough facilities and residents.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all North Slope Borough fuel storage facilities.
• Perform daily inspections of North Slope Borough fuel storage facilities.
• Upon obtaining a CDL, deliver diesel fuel to North Slope Borough fuel storage facilities and residential homes.
• Keep accurate records of fuel deliveries.
• Perform weekly inventory of North Slope Borough fuel storage facilities.
• Maintain oil spill response kits and assist with deployment, installation, removal, or other use of spill response equipment and materials.
• Handle collections of delivery fees upon delivery.
• Maintain records and documents of bills produced.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or G.E.D./a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
• Valid Alaska Drivers License that meets the North Slope Borough insurance criteria.
• Ability to obtain 40 hour Hazwoper certification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain a valid Alaska Commercial Drivers License with a “X” endorsement that meets the North Slope Borough insurance criteria within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.
• Basic mathematical computation skills.
