About the role

The Globe Institute at The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen is seeking an FU AC-TAP for the B10k project. The position is for 30 months starting from 1 August 2026.

Project description

The B10k project aims to produce reference-quality genome sequences for approximately 10,000 avian species. It is a large international consortium, with coordination between Copenhagen (Prof Tom Gilbert) and China (Prof Guojie Zhang).

Tasks

  • Obtaining and archiving relevant paperwork related to the receiving and exportation of the materials
  • Databasing the samples
  • Cataloguing of tissue samples received
  • Extraction of DNA from said samples using a Kingfisher platform
  • Performing QC on extracted DNA using a Fragment Analyzer
  • Construction of BGISeq compatible stLFR libraries

We expect

  • An academic background
  • Knowledge about avian species and the appropriate permits needed to obtain and analyze the samples in Denmark
  • Experience with extracting HMW DNA, as well as performing and interpreting QC on that DNA
  • Demonstrated expertise in organization and participation in similar projects
  • Familiarity with BGISeq library construction methods, including in particular the stLFR method
  • Prior expertise working within a team while maintaining autonomy
  • Written and spoken fluency in English and Danish

Terms of salary and employment

The employment and salary are made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

The employment will be as academic research staff. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time are 37 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible.
