Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional dining service by taking accurate food orders and serving appetizing meals to residents, family members, and guests in a professional, efficient, and courteous manner.
  • Uphold a high standard of table etiquette by serving from the left, clearing dishes between courses, and resetting tables for subsequent service to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Engage with residents in a friendly and courteous manner, assisting with their meal and menu selections, and attending to their dining needs, as necessary or requested.
  • Review and adhere to residents' dietary needs, restrictions, and preferences as outlined by the Supervisor and in their care plan.
  • Track resident meal attendance and communicate with the designated team members in a timely manner for a safety check on absent residents.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere by ensuring all residents are properly and promptly greeted and seated, with special attention given to integrating new residents.
  • Deliver meals to and retrieve trays from residents’ rooms after meal service, as required, for those who opt for room service.
  • Ensure a clean, sanitary dining area, including tables, chairs, and serving stations, and fully comply with all food safety handling and service protocols.
  • Clean the dining area, set up and reset tables, return dishes to the kitchen, fold napkins, and maintain and restock dining supplies, ensuring proper storage and inventory of food and condiments (i.e., pull old items, restock sugars, salt, pepper, ketchup, etc.).
  • Aid in community marketing efforts through positive interactions, dress, and behavior by following all grooming and dress standards.
  • Cooperate and assist with other kitchen and dining services to ensure residents have a positive dining experience.
  • Promptly report any safety or equipment issues to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests following established safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with Federal, State, and local regulations, and company policies and procedures concerning the department.
  • Promote and lead with a spirit of teamwork and open communication through consistent mentoring, coaching, and recognition program utilization, in alignment with MBK principles and core values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed by Lead, Supervisor, Director of Dining Services, or designee.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), highly preferred.
  • Exposure to restaurant operations or the ability to learn.
  • Must be 18 years or older or have a proper work permit and authorization documentation.
  • Must complete required Background clearances, health screening, and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment (must be within the last 6 months).
  • Basic counting skills as required by the position (tracking meals/residents, etc.).
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, write, understand, and read English.
  • Must be able to operate standard serving equipment (salad bar/heating cart, trays, etc.).
  • Must possess the ability to always deal tactfully and professionally with personnel, residents, family members, guests, vendors, and the public.
  • Must meet and maintain all state-specific regulatory requirements, such as Food Handler Certification.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including standing for prolonged periods, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive motion.
  • Able to move intermittently throughout the workday and in the community.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push up to 250 pounds, as necessary.

Skills

  • Knowledge of state-specific regulatory requirements, such as Food Handler Certification.

If employed at one of our senior living communities that receives Medicare or Medicaid funding, team members must not be considered an "Excluded Party" as defined by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, any state Medicaid Programs, and any additional federal and state government contract programs. If, as a team member, you learn that you are an Excluded Party, you must present your Excluded Party notice letter to your supervisor immediately.

All Team Members prior to commencing employment and once employed must not be considered an "Excluded Party" as defined by the Medicare and state Medicaid Programs as well as other federal and state government contract programs. If as an associate you learn you are an Excluded Party, you must present your Excluded Party notice letter to your supervisor immediately.
