About the role
The professional nurse at Jefferson Health uses the nursing process to address the unique needs of each patient, integrating evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and the preferences and cultural beliefs of patients and their designated care partners.
Responsibilities
- Interacts with co-workers, patients, their family/designated care partner(s), and other staff in accordance with Jefferson's values.
- Partners with patients, their family/designated care partner(s) to identify learning needs and priorities, and educates them about their condition, treatments, and recovery.
- Administers medications correctly and follows established nursing practices and protocols to minimize risks of harm.
- Communicates effectively using appropriate communication techniques, ensuring patients and their care partners understand their health and care.
- Documents patient care accurately and records relevant health information in written or electronic form.
- Works collaboratively with other professionals and teams to ensure high-quality, coordinated care.
- Provides compassionate, safe, and inclusive care that respects patients' personal preferences, priorities, and cultural backgrounds.
- Participates in hospital and practice setting committees to promote continuous improvement in patient care.
Requirements
A special diploma from an accredited school of nursing is required. Knowledge of patient-and-family-centered care, cultural awareness, effective communication, and patient assessment and care are essential. BLS certification and RN licensure in the state of practice are mandatory.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or completion of a BSN program within 3 years of hire is preferred.
- One year of previous experience as an RN in an acute care setting is preferred.
Skills
Knowledge of evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, and the ability to integrate patients' preferences and cultural beliefs into care plans. Proficiency in patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, discharge planning, and documentation.
