About the role
The Line Cook prepares and cooks hot and cold food items, accompaniments, and garnishes as directed by the Executive Chef in a healthcare culinary setting.
- Prepare (cutting, chopping, mixing) and cook (grilling, sautéing, and other methods) food items with accuracy and speed.
- Demonstrate general knowledge of food preparation and handling techniques.
- Creatively assemble hot entrees, sandwiches, sauces, and vegetables.
- Complete advance preparation tasks as needed.
- Work independently in a fast-paced à la carte environment.
- Adhere to facility and departmental safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a professional appearance and a respectful, courteous demeanor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree in Culinary preferred.
- 2 years of professional experience as a line cook preferred; previous restaurant experience required.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Experience with various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
- Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, squat, climb, reach above head, carry, and lift up to 50 lbs.
