General Description

Bryant & Stratton College's (Wisconsin) Athletic Department is seeking a Head Men's & Women's Track and Field coach. All B&SC sports compete at the NJCAA Division I or II level (scholarship offering) in Region 4. The Bobcats have been successful in the NJCAA and have featured All-Americans in track and field. Coaches are responsible for the overall recruitment, development and advancement of a competitive athletic program while demonstrating high moral and ethical standards and positive sportsmanship. The head coach must focus not only on excellence on the track but recognize and emphasize academic excellence in the classroom as well. The head coach, along with the athletic director, must operate within the budget to meet the team needs and enforce rules pertaining to the College, student conduct, and governing rules and regulations. The Coach is responsible for building relationships, the coordination of the enrollment process, working with internal and external athletic facilities and the management of their teams and fundraising.

Responsibilities

  • Serve in the College Athletic Department under the supervision of the Athletic Director
  • Recruit players, hold tryouts, and coach the intercollegiate teams at Bryant & Stratton College
  • Achieve minimum roster goals
  • Instruct players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport
  • Become knowledgeable of NJCAA rules, including student-athlete eligibility requirements and scholarship regulations
  • Schedule, organize, supervise, and conduct all practice sessions during the season and off-season as allowed by the NJCAA
  • Work with the Athletic Director on securing and preparation of practice and game facilities
  • Select assistant coaches with approval of the Athletic Director
  • Travel to local and national competition
  • Schedule games and travel with the team unless alternate arrangements have been approved by the Athletic Director
  • Submit all budget requests to the Athletic Director
  • Attend annual NJCAA Region 4 meetings as required
  • Promote the academic success of student-athletes, including monitoring academic performance to ensure eligibility requirements are met and encouraging student athletes to maintain a high academic standard
  • Conduct a student athlete conditioning program to promote the good health of the players
  • Supervise staff and student-athletes while traveling to ensure safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Coaching experience at the high school level or above required
  • Coaching experience at the college level desired
  • College recruiting experience desired
  • First aid/CPR certification is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, and leadership skills required
  • Must be able to serve as a positive role model for young adults
  • Familiarity with NJCAA rules and regulations is a plus
  • Clean driving record is preferred as driving team vans to meets may be required
  • Background check required
