Responsibilities
- Monitor the Distribution Center for Regulatory and customer compliance.
- Provide guidance and/or support regarding quality concerns raised by internal colleagues and/or distributors.
- Follow up on quality issues related to inventory and customer complaints.
- Complete special projects as assigned by the FSQA Manager/Supervisor.
- Analyze product returns and inventory to identify trends in quality issues.
- Conduct daily walkthroughs of the distribution center and communicate potential food safety, food quality, and/or sanitation issues to the FSQA Manager and Department Managers.
- Prepare the Executive Kitchen for all Product Sensory Evaluations.
- Ensure correct products are ordered/picked for Product Slicing; coordinate weekly shipping of products to plants as needed.
- Conduct Truck Audits daily and communicate non-conformances to Operations Management/FSQA Manager.
- Follow up on customer complaints to ensure current inventory isn’t compromised.
- Verify that QCP records (e.g., Cooler records, Scale Verification records) are accurately completed and up to date.
- Coordinate communication for product holds or releases.
- Perform sanitation inspections of warehouse and deli areas for cleanliness.
- Prepare reports on inspection findings and incidents.
- Collect, evaluate, and send samples to outside labs for product analysis.
- Communicate with Distribution Center/Plants on Quality and Customer issues.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED plus additional specialized training in a food environment for verifying product quality.
- At least 3-5 years of progressive work experience.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Serve Safe Certified or ability to attend and pass the certification exam.
- HACCP trained or ability to attend and complete a training course (preferred).
- Certified as an FSQA Technician or ability to complete a course by a certifying body (e.g., ASQ) (preferred).
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift overhead up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
- Sufficient sensory ability to perform effective organoleptic evaluations (visual, olfactory, gustatory, tactile, and auditory; corrected sensory ability is acceptable).
Work Environment
- Ability to work in both warm and cold environments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment with loud noises and fast-moving machinery.
- Travel required is less than 40% to attend training courses or other duties as needed.
