About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to lead the front-end technical strategy for Coinbase Advanced, our sophisticated trading platform designed for experienced traders. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the development of high-performance, low-latency trading interfaces across web and mobile platforms. As a key member of our engineering team, you will collaborate with product managers and engineering leadership to define technical roadmaps, drive performance improvements, and mentor a growing team of engineers. Your expertise will be instrumental in delivering scalable, reliable, and efficient trading solutions that meet the needs of professional traders and contribute to Coinbase’s core business objectives. This position requires a combination of technical leadership, hands-on development, and strategic planning to ensure our platform remains competitive and cutting-edge in the rapidly evolving crypto trading landscape. Qualifications 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on modern front-end frameworks and mobile environments.Proven experience in optimizing complex systems for rendering performance, network efficiency, and state management.Strong leadership skills, including mentoring senior engineers and driving organizational improvements.Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical challenges into clear, actionable plans for stakeholders.Experience working in fast-growing companies, scaling engineering teams from small to large sizes.Hands-on experience in building low latency trading systems.Familiarity with blockchain technologies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and interacting with on-chain activity.Experience decomposing monolithic architectures into microservices.Proficiency with technologies including Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, and Postgres.Crypto-forward experience, including knowledge of on-chain activities, ENS, dApps, and blockchain-based services. Responsibilities Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to define and execute a technical roadmap for a scalable and reliable trading platform.Lead initiatives to develop and enhance low latency interfaces for experienced traders across all platforms.Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and career development support to engineering team members.Anchor complex projects, ensuring adherence to high standards of code quality and system design.Drive performance improvements and optimize system architecture for speed and efficiency.Contribute to the decomposition of monolithic systems into microservices to improve scalability and maintainability.Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in front-end development, trading infrastructure, and blockchain integration.Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative features and ensure a seamless user experience.
