About the Role

Flocker is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Founding Frontend Engineer to join its core team remotely. This pivotal role involves leading the development of the company's consumer social mobile applications, focusing on delivering high-quality, engaging, and innovative user experiences. As a founding engineer, you will play a crucial part in shaping the product from early stages through to launch, working closely with a talented team of engineers, designers, and AI specialists. Your expertise in JavaScript-based cross-platform frameworks will be instrumental in building features such as in-app photo filters, video editing capabilities, and seamless app interactions. The role demands a proactive, self-motivated individual comfortable navigating the uncertainties of a startup environment, willing to work founder hours in exchange for significant equity. You will be responsible for translating designs into production code, collaborating with backend and AI teams, and participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle. Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience shipping beautiful, user-focused mobile applications
• Proven experience in building consumer social apps
• Expertise in JavaScript-based mobile development frameworks such as React Native, Ionic, Capacitor, or similar
• Strong portfolio of shipped apps available for download
• Experience leading projects or teams, demonstrating self-motivation and leadership qualities
• Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment
• Comfort with ambiguity and a flexible, iterative approach to development
• Experience with media features such as photo filters, video editing, or related functionalities (bonus)
• Passion for building scalable, beautiful, and engaging consumer-facing systems

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-quality mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms using JavaScript-based frameworks
• Create and optimize in-app photo filters and video editing features to enhance user engagement
• Translate design prototypes and concepts into fully functional, production-ready code with attention to detail
• Collaborate closely with backend and AI engineers to ensure seamless integration of server-side logic and media features
• Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including designing, coding, testing, and deploying new features
• Iterate rapidly within an agile environment, incorporating user feedback and adjusting priorities accordingly
• Contribute to establishing best practices for frontend development and maintaining code quality
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving bugs or performance issues to ensure a smooth user experience
