About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Drupal Frontend Engineer (Consultant) to join our Engineering & Technical Services team. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to architect, develop, and maintain modern, high-performance digital experiences for a federal healthcare platform serving approximately 11 million monthly users. You will leverage your advanced Drupal frontend expertise—including component-based architecture and modular design system implementation—to optimize public access to vital healthcare services. The role requires a deep understanding of modern web development practices, WCAG accessibility standards, and secure, scalable coding techniques. As a subject-matter expert, you will work independently to uphold team standards for quality and performance, ensuring that deliverables meet rigorous federal and organizational requirements. The position involves supporting the entire software lifecycle, including development, testing, and deployment, and may span domains such as data engineering, infrastructure automation, and AI/ML integration, providing a comprehensive technical experience. Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of professional web development experience.Demonstrated experience with Drupal 10 and/or Drupal 11 frontend development.Strong familiarity with modern Drupal frontend architectures, including Single Directory Components (SDC) and JavaScript frameworks.Proficiency in integrating Web Components into Drupal themes.Deep understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and accessibility best practices.Experience with PostCSS workflows and modern styling practices.Experience modifying React-based applications or similar JavaScript frameworks and integrating them into Drupal environments.Ability to support backend development tasks such as Drupal configuration management and module development.Proficiency with Cypress or equivalent end-to-end testing tools.Strong experience working within Git repositories, including branching workflows, forks, and conflict resolution.Familiarity with Agile methodologies and ceremonies.Drupal.org username required.Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust clearance. Responsibilities Design and implement modular, component-based design systems within Drupal themes, utilizing tools like Storybook and Single Directory Components (SDC).Architect and write secure, high-performance JavaScript code adhering to established coding standards.Ensure all digital touchpoints comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to provide accessible experiences for all users.Develop and maintain PostCSS workflows, applying modern styling practices within Drupal theme architecture.Integrate Web Components seamlessly into Drupal themes to enhance functionality and maintainability.Create and execute integration and end-to-end tests (e.g., Cypress) to verify code reliability, performance, and regression coverage.Utilize debugging tools for JavaScript and PHP to accelerate development workflows and improve code quality.Support backend configuration management and basic module development within Drupal.Collaborate within Git repositories, managing code through forks, branches, and conflict resolution strategies.Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, balancing multiple projects and products that share codebases.
