About the role
The Kaniksu Community Health (KCH) is a non-profit, award-winning community health center located in north Idaho. We provide integrated, team-based healthcare services, including prevention, wellness, medical, dental, and behavioral health, catering to patients from pediatrics to geriatrics. We prioritize accessibility, affordability, and quality care for all.
Responsibilities
- Maintain established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, and safety standards within the department.
- Perform multiple duties concurrently, including office assistant tasks, opening/closing office duties, and assisting with scheduling and patient check-in/check-out.
- Coordinate and maintain a functioning schedule for all providers, ensuring accurate appointment times and obtaining prior records for new patients.
- Travel between all three clinics to support front office teams and assist with daily operations.
- Primary patient check-in: Ensure all required demographic information is accurate in the NextGen practice management system.
- Document cancellation and no-show appointments by notifying the care team through the NextGen system.
- Complete reminder calls for following day appointments and review NextGen for any alerts regarding collections and updated information.
- Work closely with the NIFP billing department to address any billing questions.
- Primary patient check-out duties: Verify alerts, payments, and information are accurate before patient leaves and schedule follow-up appointments.
- Remain available for patient access throughout the day.
- Keep the waiting room neat and orderly and monitor the waiting room temperature for patient comfort.
- Closing office duties: Verify all encounters have been obtained by medical care teams, turn off reception computers, secure medical records area, balance cash box, turn off all lights, and place telephones on nights.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous front office experience is required, medical office preferred.
- 1-3 years of previous leadership experience preferred.
- Ability to maintain corporate confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Ability to submit electronic pre-authorizations required by Medicaid.

- Advanced, extensive, and documented experience in general office administration and office functions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Keyboarding at 35+ wpm.
- Fluency in word processing.
- The ability to work in the absence of direct supervision.
- Excellent time management & critical thinking skills.
- Spanish/English bilingual ability desirable.

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full Time - 40 hours/week, 4 days/week
