About the Role
The Front Office Coordinator is responsible for the organized and efficient operations of the front office and file room of the Women’s Diagnostic Center (WDC).
- Serve as primary receptionist, greeting patients and answering the general extension of the WDC
- Obtain orders for procedures and complete correspondence as needed
- Obtain insurance cards for registration and maintain patient flow to registration
- Assist with Fast Track of patients as needed and maintain data on the tracking board
- Obtain patient history as needed for Mammography, PET, and MRI
- Prepare the Daily Diagnostic Schedule
- Create CDs and fax reports as needed
- Obtain prior imaging procedures from outside facilities before the patient’s current appointment, upload outside images, and prepare records for comparison
Must effectively work and communicate with physicians, nurses, patients, technologists, and physician office staff. Requires a collaborative working relationship with the business office, HIM, and admitting/registration departments.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED preferred
- Education in medical terminology, coding, insurance verification, or a related field
- Experience in a similar setting, such as a physician’s office, managed care insurance office, or hospital
- Typing speed of 55 words per minute
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and basic transcription
- Comfortable handling phone communications
