About the Role

As an Associate Technician at Walman Optical, you will be responsible for the set-up, operation, and basic maintenance of equipment within the surface or finish portions of lab production. This role is vital in ensuring the efficient and accurate production of high-quality vision care products.

Responsibilities

• Perform various tasks related to production machine functions, including:
  • Interpretation of Rx work tickets
  • Production operations on specified equipment following established procedures
  • Troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment and advising supervisors on possible remedies
  • Tool selection and replacement
  • Equipment set-up for daily production and clean-up at day’s end
• Operate DAC equipment and monitor for proper function.
• Occasionally sort and pack jobs for shipment.
• Maintain work area and common department areas in a neat, clean, and organized condition.
• Understand and follow all company and branch laboratory policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with attendance and safety rules.
• Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and HIPAA-protected information.
• Assist others as needed to maintain workflow, meet deadlines, and balance workloads.
• Perform an acceptable quantity and quality of work on time.
• Provide training, work direction, and technical guidance to less experienced employees.
• Attend in-house or company-sponsored training meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position requires exposure to hazardous substances/chemicals, necessitating safety training.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read, understand, and carry out instructions (e.g., operating procedures, safety standards, labels).
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast-changing environment.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
