Front Line - Associate Technician (Sx Cy)

General Function

The primary focus of this position is to work in one or more of the areas of surface, coating or finish as assigned. Duties of this position are usually repetitive, requiring limited analysis and use of individual judgment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• prep and monitor trays for edging.
• Utilize the bevel wheel to remove the sharp edges of the lens.
• Mount lens in standard frames.
• Drill and mount lenses into specialty frames.
• Roll and Polish: Smooth sharp edges and gloss edges by using tools and machinery provided.
• Prepare an uncut lens for the edging process by removing lens from envelope, wiping clean of markings, and putting on automatic machines.
• Layout – sort jobs from wrap, drills, and regular.
• Tint lenses accurately.
• Inspect lenses and frames to ensure that they are optically and cosmetically accurate.

Surface – Blocker

• Open and tray lens blanks, taping and blocking to accommodate automation.
• Monitor automated surfacing equipment to keep equipment loaded and clear errors.
• Polish and deblock lenses.
• Wash and inspect lenses for cosmetic defects.

Finish – Tray Up

• Tray Up: prep and monitor trays for edging.
• Beveler: Utilize the bevel wheel to remove the sharp edges of the lens.
• Mounter : Mount lens in standard frames.
• Roll and Polish: Smooth sharp edges and gloss edges by using tools and machinery provided.
• Finish Layout : Prepare an uncut lens for the edging process by removing lens from envelope, wiping clean of markings, and putting on automatic machines.

AR-COATING

• AR Staging: Scan and sort jobs by coating for scratch and anti-reflective coating treatments.
• Clipping: Clean lenses and place in holders for wash and scratch coat machines.
• Hard Coat Inspection: Inspect lenses for cosmetic defects after scratch coat application.
• Perform tests on various scratch coating baths to verify all are within specification.
• AR Coat: Load lenses into holders for anti-reflective coating – monitor machines.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent preferred.
• Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret, goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the organization.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
• Basic ability to add and subtract.
• Understand decimal numerical sequencing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous related experience and/or training preferred.
