Responsibilities
- Modernize the Cobalt theme so it operates reliably with the most current WordPress release and supports version 8.4 and above of the organization’s platform.
- Redesign theme configuration by moving settings from the WordPress Customizer into a dedicated Theme Options page that is easier to manage and maintain.
- Evaluate the existing theme architecture to identify compatibility concerns, outdated components, and areas requiring front-end improvements.
- Record site-specific issues, conflicts, and exceptions discovered during development to support future maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Review plugins used across the broader web ecosystem and create clear documentation of items that are no longer current or require attention.
- Apply front-end development best practices to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related frameworks to ensure a consistent and responsive user experience.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to validate updates, confirm expected functionality, and resolve issues affecting theme behavior or usability.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining WordPress themes in production environments.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Working knowledge of React.js and modern front-end development approaches.
- Experience assessing WordPress plugin compatibility and identifying outdated dependencies.
- Ability to translate technical needs into maintainable theme settings and administrative interfaces.
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills, particularly when tracking conflicts or environment-specific issues.
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks and responsive design standards.
