Angel Kids Pediatrics, the largest pediatric clinic in Jacksonville with 10 locations and nearly 45,000 patients, is seeking a full-time Front Desk Specialist. Responsibilities
- Serve as the initial contact for all patients visiting the office.
- Answer, screen, and direct calls on a multiline phone system; take detailed messages and forward calls to appropriate practitioners, voicemail, or pagers.
- Schedule patient appointments.
- Clear faxes each morning and deliver to appropriate practitioners.
- Meet and greet patients; announce, direct, and/or escort them to appropriate areas.
- Compose and type routine correspondence as required.
- Perform general clerical duties including filing, photocopying, faxing, and mailing.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances.
- Order and maintain supplies, arrange for equipment maintenance, and keep the reception area organized.
- Input patient information and demographics into the computer system.
- Validate insurance and primary care provider (PCP) information.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism when dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
- Local travel during the business day may be required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year of experience as a Medical Receptionist (required).
- 1 year of experience with checkout processes (preferred).
- 1 year of experience with insurance verification (required).
- MOA Certificate from an accredited program (preferred).

Work Environment
This position operates in a professional medical office environment, often in a fast-paced, customer-service-focused setting working with children and their families or guardians. Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers and laptops, as well as medical equipment, is required.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use a keyboard, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, or kneel.
- Must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.
- Exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials.
- Frequent exposure to loud noise such as crying, yelling, or screaming.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with the following expected hours:
- Monday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday: 8:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Weekend and holiday hours may be required at certain locations.
