Responsibilities
- Answering and triaging incoming calls.
- Check in patients for their appointments (verify insurance information, referrals, demographics, etc).
- Covering charts (last office note, diagnostic test results, lab results, etc).
- Verify insurance eligibility.
- Collect copayments and outstanding balances (batch and balance at end of day).
- Verify that all test results and office notes are available for the patient’s appointment.
- Bring patients to exam rooms if needed.
- Cover co-workers’ vacation/sick/personal time.
- Perform closing tasks (stay with a co-worker until the providers are finished) in the office once every other week.
- Other duties as assigned by managers and leads.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- One-year medical office experience.
- Health care receptionist experience preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and other regulatory policies.
- Knowledge of Insurance regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of medical office procedures, policies, practices and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of electronic medical systems is a plus, including Athena/Centricity, Medi-Tech and the like.
- Telephone protocol and professional etiquette; strong communication skills, verbal and written.
- Extensive customer service experience.
- Proven ability to multi-task.
- Computer skills, being proficient with Windows based software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think quickly, professionally, and efficiently.
- Ability to represent our organization in a professional manner.
