Essential Skills & Abilities

  • Welcome patients/caregivers, determine the purpose of visits, and direct to appropriate person or department.
  • Promptly and professionally answer telephone calls and route them appropriately.
  • Retrieve and greet messages from voice mail.
  • Facilitate patient flow and communicate delays with patients and clinical staff.
  • Follow all policies on safety and security, maintaining restricted areas safely.
  • Create a patient-friendly environment.
  • Schedule and cancel patient appointments.
  • Verify demographics and insurance information.
  • Register and check out all patients.
  • Collect co-payments; print receipts as needed.
  • Reconcile money collected and charges at the end of each shift.
  • Adequately screen solicitors for relevance to organization needs.
  • Confirm appointment schedules.
  • Print daily appointment lists.
  • Maintain supplies of all forms and office materials; monitor inventory needs and place orders.
  • Manage and maintain electronic check-in.
  • Maintain waiting room for a generally tidy appearance.
  • Keep the reception area and office files clean and organized.
  • Regular and prompt attendance is expected and required.

Position Requirements

  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and understanding of various practice management software.
  • Ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work responsibilities.
  • Ability to float between other offices throughout Fairfield County.
