Organization: El Paso Center for Diabetes Status: Full-Time Work Setting: Medical Office Position Summary The Front Desk Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff at the El Paso Center for Diabetes. This position plays a critical role in creating a welcoming, organized, and efficient clinical environment. The receptionist supports patients and providers by managing front desk operations, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, collecting payments, and maintaining accurate patient records. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Welcome patients and visitors in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner.Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information accurately.Maintain smooth clinic flow by communicating patient status to appropriate team members.Provide exceptional customer service while addressing patient needs, questions, and concerns.Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using the electronic scheduling system.Answer incoming phone calls, route calls appropriately, and take accurate messages.Verify insurance coverage in coordination with the billing department.Explain insurance benefits, co-pays, and payment policies to patients.Collect co-payments and outstanding balances at patient check-in.Upload laboratory results to the patient portal.Manage incoming documents through the fax server.Provide general information to patients regarding Center services and procedures.Perform administrative tasks including filing, processing forms, and maintaining office supplies.Ensure the front desk area remains clean, organized, and professional.Effectively multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time efficiently.Identify and address patient concerns or complaints, escalating issues when appropriate.Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Education Requirements Bilingual in English and Spanish (required).High school diploma or GED required.Associate degree or administrative training preferred.Previous experience as a medical receptionist preferred.Knowledge of medical insurance processes and terminology.Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems.Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Work Schedule Full-time position (40 hours per week).Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (Lunch: 1:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m.).Alternating Wednesdays: 12:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.Flexibility required, including occasional evenings and weekends. Professional Standards Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills.Adhere to all policies, procedures, and expectations outlined in the employee handbook. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.Frequent computer use with repetitive motion.Occasional bending, stooping, and standing.
