Details Posted: 27-Jul-26 Location: Manchester By The Sea, Massachusetts Type: Part Time Salary: $23,000-$58,000 Categories Other Salary Details Dependent upon classification with a range from $23,000-28,000 for .5 FTE to $50,000- 58,000 for Full-Time The Front Desk Receptionist is an integral and critical part of the Brookwood Community ensuring that students, families, employees, and visitors all feel welcome at our school. The position interacts with all departments within the school and the successful candidate will be required to manage competing priorities with a strong eye focused on customer service and absolute discretion. Qualifications & Professional Attributes Previous administrative experience Previous experience in a fast-paced customer service environment Proven ability to manage both multiple and competing priorities and emergencies while maintaining a calm demeanor Additional Qualifications Unquestionable integrity and treatment of sensitive information with utmost discretion Superb prioritization and organizational skills Strong customer service skills Ability to make decisions quickly Creative thinking along with problem-solving and process improvement skills Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships across all levels of the organization Exceptional written and verbal communication skills A joyful spirit and authentic enthusiasm for working in a school setting, bringing energy, humor, and warmth to the environment Reflective professional mindset, demonstrating curiosity, humility, and a commitment to continuous growth Collaborative orientation, contributing positively to a collegial and high-performing employee community Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and the ability to support students in developing respect for multiple perspectives Sound professional judgment, including the ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with students and colleagues Facility with Google Suite and openness to the use of ever evolving technology tools Experience with Veracross a plus Essential Duties & Responsibilities Greet all who enter the school as they arrive, grant access as appropriate, and manage sign-in processes Manage phones and announce callers as needed Engage with students and families Manage student transportation services on a day-to-day basis Support Annual Registration process as needed Respond to various requests for information and concerns Forward information to students and employees as needed Manage sign-in process for students arriving late to school Ensure and monitor completion of daily attendance Manage aspects of emergency situations Provide information as needed to community members Manage internet connections for visitors in conjunction with the IT department Coordinate student pick-up as needed for varied dismissals Facilitate guest entry for various events Act as short-term back-up for nursing office Support various departments with mailings and preparation of packets as requested Manage centralized stationery needs and postage machine Support substitute teacher coordination as needed Distribute incoming mail daily Professional Engagement & Growth Attend and participate actively in meetings, school events, and institutional responsibilities, including those that may occur outside of the traditional school day Demonstrate reflective practice and commitment to professional growth, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement Collegiality and Institutional Stewardship Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments, and be available to help others when possible, actively contributing to creating a collegial and mission-aligned professional culture Promote a spirit of professionalism, respect, and shared responsibility supporting the collective work required to sustain and strengthen an independent school community Support school-wide events, initiatives, and traditions that contribute to the vitality of the School’s “All in” community Student Supervision & Safety Take active responsibility for the supervision and safety of students ensuring a respectful and supportive learning environment Follow School policies and procedures that are designed to keep students and the community safe Institutional Responsibilities Assume duties and responsibilities commonly associated with employment in an independent day school, including participation in the broader life of the School Partner with departments school-wide to support all aspects of work that go into running, maintaining, and growing an independent school Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of the School’s mission, program, and evolving needs We strongly encourage applications from people of color, LGBTQ candidates or candidates from communities that are historically underrepresented in independent schools.
