Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patients
  • Answer the telephone and greet patients
  • Perform the "pre-test" including NCT, auto-refraction, auto-keratometry, color test, brief medical history, visual acuity, load phoropter, and other tests as directed by the local Doctor
  • Follow the local pathogen control policy as set by the local Doctor
  • Sell contact lenses and communicate Eyemart's specials and everyday low prices
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions as well as policies regarding payment, returns, and exchanges
  • Meet sales goals
  • Compute and process payment transactions/refunds using the in-house Point of Sale system
  • Data entry into the computer system, including customer information and insurance eligibility documentation
  • Follow A/R procedures
  • Perform I & R (insertion and removal) training
  • Order and receive contact lenses; order and dispense contact lenses to patients
  • Call customers daily for pick-up, job status, and any special order or production delays
  • Process insurance claims efficiently
  • Create and maintain patient files, following company and HIPAA policies regarding confidentiality
  • Make and maintain patients' charts per local Doctor specifications; file patient charts daily
  • Sign-in patients and clearly document insurance eligibility information before any services are provided
  • Assess and interpret patient's needs/wants based upon prescription requirements, facial features, lifestyle, and occupation, and suggest appropriate products (frames, lens type, coatings)
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products
  • Troubleshoot customer complaints
  • Assist with inventory control, including receiving stock, maintaining merchandising, monthly inventory, and loss prevention
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned and any related work as directed by a Manager or Doctor

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience working in retail, customer service, or sales
  • Experience working in the optical industry is preferred but not required (willing to train)
