About the role

The Front Desk Night Auditor is responsible for the preparation and disposition of all night audit work and front desk operation during the overnight shift (typically 9pm-7am). The role involves overseeing the auditing, posting, and balancing of daily financial transactions to support the hotel's guest service and financial profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and reconcile cashier reports to create a master cashier report.
  • Post revenues to posting masters so departments receive appropriate credits.
  • Settle all credit card accounts.
  • Follow audit procedures as outlined in the audit instructions.
  • Verify accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other employees; correct errors or list discrepancies for adjustment.
  • Answer incoming and in-house phone calls in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner; provide callers with information about the property and in-house promotions.
  • Check-in/register guests efficiently and accurately, ensuring proper identification and payment information are recorded.
  • Check-out guests efficiently and accurately, ensuring all bills are settled before guests leave the property.
  • Maintain a well-organized and professional front desk.
  • Alert appropriate personnel for repairs, maintenance, supplies, and cleaning as needed.
  • Document all guest concerns, problems, and significant events in the shift report and guest profile; copy relevant details to the Resort Front Desk Manager and/or MOD.
  • Seek assistance from the Resort Front Desk Manager or MOD for guest inquiries and concerns beyond your scope.
  • Handle disputed guest charges and approve refunds before issuance.
  • Monitor the activity of all cash-handling employees.
  • Monitor all discounts, complimentary items, and coupons to ensure appropriate use; report misuse or misappropriation of funds to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office and ability to learn hotel property management systems.
  • Basic mathematical skills to accurately perform calculations, reconcile financial transactions, and balance reports.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during overnight shifts.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling guest information and financial records.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required gaming license, if applicable.
  • Ability to work overnight, weekends, holidays, and other shifts as business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of customer service experience, preferably in hospitality or a related industry.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Time management and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and diffuse tense situations.

Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and requires good mental and physical health. The role involves standing and walking frequently throughout an 8+ hour shift at a standing desk/computer, with occasional bending and light lifting up to 30 pounds. Ability to work independently during overnight hours and tolerate various scents, noises, and bright lights is essential.

Preference will be given to qualified Native Americans, including members of the Bois Forte Band, other federally recognized tribes, and status Natives born in Canada, in accordance with tribal and federal law.
