As the first point of contact for guests at Samaritan Inn, our Front Desk Clerks play an essential role in creating a warm, welcoming, and Christ-centered hospitality experience. They greet every guest with professionalism, compassion, and genuine care, ensuring each interaction reflects the mission and values of Samaritan's Purse. From the moment guests arrive until their departure, Front Desk Clerks are committed to providing attentive, courteous, and efficient service. By fostering a welcoming environment and delivering exceptional customer service, they help ensure every guest feels valued, supported, and cared for throughout their stay.
Schedule
This is a regular part-time position, scheduled for 24 hours per week. The standard work schedule consists of 12-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Due to the dynamic nature of the Inn's operations, candidates should be flexible with their availability, as additional hours may be requested to help meet operational needs during periods of increased activity.
Responsibilities
- Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
- Greet guests upon arrival in a friendly and professional manner and perform all check-in tasks, including guest registration information, key distribution, and sharing information regarding amenities.
- Provide check-out information and assist guests upon departure from Samaritan Inn.
- Respond to guests questions, issues, and concerns in an attentive, timely, and caring manner, following established procedural guidelines to ensure all Samaritan Inn guests have a positive experience throughout their stay.
- Maintain and run critical reports as required through the shift.
- Process reservation requests as assigned by the Manager, utilizing the reservation software and communicate with requesting department regarding status.
- Maintain ongoing communication with Housekeeping staff regarding the status of rooms.
- Ensure front desk area, lobby, dining and breakfast areas, outdoor patio, and other common areas are neat and tidy.
- Support Samaritan Inn Housekeeping team by performing light-duty, routine housekeeping tasks in common areas (tasks may include, but are not limited to: cleaning the restroom, vacuuming/spot-mopping, trash removal, dusting, wiping tables, folding bathroom linens, and similar tasks).
- Support Food Services staff for guest breakfast service if/as requested.
- Record room and maintenance issues throughout shift and report them to responsible parties in timely manner.
- Receive detailed, key information from outgoing staff and provide same to incoming staff at shift transitions.
- Record and review daily staff communication log and the team calendar for general information and updates, including vendor appointments and visitors to the facility.
- Stay current on departmental guidelines and updates.
- Proactively seek to learn more about the Ministry and look for ways to contribute to the Samaritan Inn team.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of all safety and emergency procedures and respond swiftly and effectively, following protocol in any Samaritan Inn emergency or unsafe situation, and promptly alert security and the Samaritan Inn Manager.
- Follow policies and procedures of Samaritans Purse as set forth in the Policy Manual.
- Participate in daily morning devotions via online streaming and participates in prayer support for the ministry, donors, and volunteers.
- Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, volunteers, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public within the workplace, in the community, and before the general public.
- Reflect Godly character by conducting activities in a manner consistent with the Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Christian Code of Conduct, Statement of Fidelity to the Holy Scriptures, and Distinct Objectives.

Qualifications
- Associate's degree and a minimum of two (2) years of front desk customer service strongly preferred; or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Keen Attention to Detail
- Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills
- Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and also independently with moderate supervision
- Ability to Manage Down Time Well
- Excellent customer service skills in attentiveness, listening, and appropriate questioning to determine the level of service needed
- Ability to effectively present key information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to learn the reservation software system
- General knowledge of various office equipment, including phone system and printer/copier
- Ability to process and handle confidential information while maintaining discretion
- Ability to multitask and shift priorities in challenging situations while maintaining composure
- Ability to maintain keen situational awareness and meet the needs of guests and/or provide resources before being asked
