About the role

The YOTEL San Francisco is seeking a Front Desk Agent to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a historic building in the heart of the city, surrounded by arts and culture. The hotel's prime location makes it easy to explore the city via cable cars and the Golden Gate Theatre.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to arriving, departing, and in-house guests by providing accurate and timely information and services.
  • Greets and completes check-in procedures for guests, using both manual and computerized methods.
  • Facilitates guest departure by following established procedures to close accounts and prepare rooms for new guests.
  • Calculates and posts guest accounts, ensuring timely and precise hotel charges and maintaining accurate records.
  • Answers inquiries and accepts reservations, both in person and by telephone, using suggestive selling techniques to increase occupancy and revenue.
  • Maintains good customer relations by staying informed about in-house and area events and responding to guests' questions and concerns promptly and knowledgeably.
  • Controls cash transactions and maintains personal bank account as specified by hotel policies.
  • Operates PBX equipment, accepting incoming calls, scheduling wake-up calls, and paging guests for efficient service.
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Past experience dealing directly with the public and basic customer service skills.
  • Fluent in oral and written English.
  • Ability to handle stress and deal with a variety of customer service problems, including highly emotional situations.
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail.

Skills

  • Mathematical aptitude suitable for high school level.
  • Knowledge of standard cash handling procedures and computerized cash register systems.
  • Tact and understanding when dealing with customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged standing.
  • Repetitive bending and kneeling while filing.
  • Reachability to all areas of the hotel.
  • Occasional standing, carrying, and lifting up to 25 lbs.

Environment

  • Prolonged standing at an indoor, thermostatically climate-controlled work station under fluorescent lighting.
  • Work inside.
