About the role
The Front Desk Agent performs all desk attendant functions including checking guests and vendors in and out, handling reservations, and operating the switchboard. Strong customer service skills are essential.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative, reception, and program support to management and staff.
- Manage phone activity, including providing general knowledge to callers.
- Handle walk-in traffic and sign in customers as needed.
- Greet customers warmly and register/assign rooms to guests.
- Provide room rate quotes and upsell guests when possible.
- Coordinate between the Front Desk and Housekeeping Department.
- Verify correct charges and credits are posted to guest folios.
- Collect payment for charges on guest folios.
- Ensure all cash and cash equivalents are accounted for and balanced at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Respond to guest inquiries and resolve complaints within scope of authority; escalate to management when necessary.
- Maintain awareness of safety issues and report them immediately to your manager.
Requirements
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Minimum age of 16 years.
- Clerical skills including typing, filing, office machine operations, cash register operation, and record maintenance.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Computer proficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with a wide variety of people and organize schedules for reservations.
- Excellent interpersonal, administrative, telephone, and communication skills.

Physical and Mental Requirements
- Frequent movement on foot to accomplish tasks, including moving between locations within the unit.
- Bend, lift, carry, and reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently in a constantly changing environment.
- Lift, carry, and push up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to stand for the entire workday and climb steps regularly.
- Ability to sit at a desk and monitor phones for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor temperatures.
- Read and write work-related documents in English.
- Clear speech recognition and communication in English to interact with customers and coworkers.
- Constant verbal communication in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical presence at the job site is essential.
