About the role

You will be part of a dynamic and talented team of professionals dedicated to the highest standards of excellence and quality human services. The position provides transportation to the residents of the YWCA’s Passage Point Homes to transit connections for personal appointments, shopping trips, recreational outings, etc. The position also provides operational and administrative support for the Passage Point Program including answering phones, guest services, transportation coordination, and security support.

The YWCA Passage Point is a supportive housing site with services designed to assist residents who are transitioning from incarceration into the Renton/Issaquah/Maple Valley community. All residents are committed to working toward housing stability and reunification with their children. This position has a social justice component that requires critical thinking through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Knowing the core principles of antiracism and grounding those principles in everyday work are required job skills and core values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, timely and courteous transportation for residents while delivering quality service
  • Adhere to all YWCA Passage Point (PP) policies regarding transport of adults and children
  • Assist residents with any special needs during transportation, such as carrying packages, opening doors, and helping residents onto and off of the vehicle
  • Provide miscellaneous pickup and delivery services as directed
  • Track and coordinate approved transportation destinations
  • Work in coordination with PP case managers or any YWCA program staff that support PP residents to provide transportation
  • Answer telephone, respond to requests for information and resources, make referrals to outside resources, and provide customer service to office guests
  • Perform general office duties including filing, faxing, copying, and mailings
  • Call for maintenance and repair or replacement of office equipment (in consultation with the Program Manager)
  • Maintain filing systems and perform record-keeping duties for check requests and timesheets
  • Provide support to Department Director and Program Manager during hiring processes, including logging and organizing applications and setting appointments
  • Manage guest sign-in and sign-out, check guest lists, and ensure compliance with guest policy for residents
  • Assist YWCA staff with deliveries, donations, and volunteer projects as requested
  • Ensure that clients, staff, volunteers, and community partners are treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnic background, gender, or socioeconomic background
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Driver License and insurance with an acceptable driving record (no more than 2 moving violations within a year and no accidents within 3 years)
  • Must pass a criminal background check and YWCA driving test
  • Knowledgeable of all safety precautions and compliance with safety procedures
  • Ability to work with ethnically and economically diverse populations, including both children and adults
  • Ability to react calmly in emergency situations and be considerate
  • Experience working with communities of color
  • Demonstrated understanding of the intersection of racism and poverty
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work semi-independently without direct supervision by following all policies and procedures and the ability to follow through on assigned tasks

Schedule

Weekends (Saturday and Sunday), 16 hours per week (Part-Time)

Pay

Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $26.50

Physical Requirements

  • Continuously exposed to clients who have experienced trauma, including domestic violence, sexual violence, homelessness, unemployment, and financial hardship; employees are at risk of secondary trauma and encouraged to seek external support and maintain self-care
  • Continuous local travel to multiple locations for off-site meetings and transport of residents to meetings, appointments, and transit sites
  • Frequent use of speech, hearing, and sight abilities in exchanging information with residents, agency staff, employers, and community representatives
  • Frequent use of hands and wrists, including fingering, handling, grasping, and reaching for telephones, computers, fax machines, and other office equipment
  • Occasional lifting/carrying of up to 20 pounds in the office and during off-site travel
  • Occasional reaching outward, standing, squatting, kneeling, bending, walking, and reaching above shoulders

Continuously: over 80% time, Frequently: 20-80% time, Occasionally: under 20% time
