Responsibilities

• Deliver innovative mechanical design solutions for clients across all phases of product development, from brainstorming and evaluating product concepts to designing for manufacturability and ensuring production reflects design intent.
• Plan, prioritize, and deliver mechanical engineering activities autonomously within interdisciplinary projects.
• Lead client conversations, providing articulate recommendations and framing product trade-offs to guide client choices.
• Serve as the backbone of projects from beginning to end, representing depth in engineering as an individual contributor, mentor, and guide for junior colleagues.
• Lead small teams on projects and contribute to business development through proposal-writing and pitches.
• Demonstrate understanding of fully engineering a product from idea to production, evaluating and communicating conflicting project requirements.
• Apply innovative problem-solving and lateral thinking to address challenges, even if they increase your responsibilities.
• Balance numerous constraints to drive the best and most appropriate design for the client, system, and full context.
• Collaborate effectively with frogs, clients, suppliers, and others.
• Execute core engineering tasks, such as 3D CAD modeling, analysis, and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or similar.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and documentation, primarily in consumer electronics and similar products.
• Advanced solid and surface modeling skills with 3D software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Experience collaborating in multifunctional teams as the mechanical design lead.
• Knowledge of requirements and design constraints for common manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, machining, and casting.
• Experience and knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) for both high and low volume products.
• Ability to prepare and manage vendor-ready documentation packages, including 3D CAD, 2D drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
• Experience and knowledge of prototyping techniques (3D printing, casting, rapid tooling, etc.).
• Hands-on electronics and firmware prototyping skills leveraging off-the-shelf hobbyist components, dev kits, etc.

• Experience working across diverse environments, including startups, corporate organizations, and consulting firms.
• Exposure to product qualification, regulatory compliance, and quality management standards.
• Experience with advanced mechanical design, engineering analysis, and reliability methodologies.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, supplier collaboration, and product commercialization activities.
• Knowledge of electronic enclosure design, thermal management, and electromechanical system integration.
• Academic, professional, or life experiences outside of engineering that bring unique perspectives and innovative problem-solving approaches.

Pay

The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is $112,600 - $212,700. Capgemini provides compensation range information in accordance with applicable national, state, provincial, and local pay transparency laws. The actual compensation offered may vary based on factors such as geographic location, education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, market considerations, and internal pay equity.
