Fright Fest Technician 18+
About the Role
Entertainment Technicians at the park are responsible for the operation and basic installation/maintenance of sound, video, special effects, and lighting equipment. Technicians will provide support for Fright Fest and perform daily operational duties to assist the department, including covering open positions, communicating schedule changes, and sharing information with co-workers and management.
You will perform all assignments and responsibilities as outlined for a stagehand, spotlight operator, light board operator, audio operator, special effects operator, and camera operator. This includes operating light boards, audio consoles, video cameras, and/or special effects equipment for shows and special events. You may occasionally perform stagehand shifts and other behind-the-scenes duties for events.
Responsibilities
- Operate and troubleshoot sound, video, lighting, and special effects equipment.
- Install equipment, which may require working at height using ladders, scaffolding, or a man-lift.
- Provide basic maintenance and troubleshooting for scenic elements, sound systems, video equipment, special effects, lighting systems, and fixtures.
- Maintain cleanliness and uphold maintenance standards in all assigned tasks.
- Follow all park and departmental safety policies and procedures.
- Interact professionally with entertainers, technicians, contractors, park staff, and personnel from other departments.
- Handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Perform other functions as directed by management for the benefit of the department and park.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Knowledge of technical theater, including theater safety, audio and lighting systems, special effects, video, theatrical scenery, drapery, set decorating, scenic and prop construction, maintenance, and repair.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, days, evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
- Capable of successfully interacting with various entertainers, technicians, contractors, and park staff.
- Hands-on capability to operate technical equipment and troubleshoot technical problems.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and lighting environments.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, with both natural and artificial lighting.
- Equipment used includes radios, microphones, and cleaning tools.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, carrying, climbing, bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Days and hours vary and include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Position requires close contact with park guests.
