About the role

The role can be based at any of ORR's office locations: London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, York, Glasgow. Currently, employees are expected to work from a workplace location for a minimum of two days per week or 40%. ORR is the independent safety and economic regulator for Britain’s railways and monitors performance on England’s strategic road network.

Responsibilities

  • Lead your team in decision-making related to freight, station, and depot access to support a growing economy.
  • Ensure the delivery of ORR’s statutory access duties and shape future interactions with Great British Railways (GBR).
  • Influence the transition from the existing capacity allocation regime to the future one.
  • Develop monitoring for the new regime and ensure effective access outside of GBR.

Requirements

This role requires a proven track record in managing and leading teams, particularly in the context of regulatory access and licensing. Experience in railway operations and familiarity with regulatory frameworks are essential. Strong project management skills and the ability to influence stakeholders are also crucial.

Qualifications

A relevant degree and professional qualification, such as a Chartered Engineer or similar, is preferred. Experience in regulatory environments and a deep understanding of railway operations are beneficial.

Pay
