Freight Forwarding Process Analyst

Duration: 6+ months. Location: Remote with approximately 25‑40% travel throughout the U.S.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Freight Forwarding Process Analyst to support a 6 month transformation project focused on process discovery, mapping, and improvement. The ideal candidate will have strong freight forwarding experience, hands-on process mapping and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) experience, and the ability to independently lead workshops with stakeholders across operations and business functions. This role will work directly with operational teams to understand current-state processes, identify gaps and inefficiencies, and develop clear process maps and recommendations for future-state improvements. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on process analyst who understands freight forwarding operations and can independently lead process discovery from start to finish. They should be comfortable facilitating workshops with frontline employees and leadership, translating discussions into accurate process maps, and identifying practical opportunities for improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead process discovery workshops with operations, commercial, and support teams.
• Document current-state freight forwarding processes from end to end.
• Develop process maps, swimlane diagrams, SIPOCs, and Value Stream Maps (VSM).
• Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, handoff issues, rework, and opportunities for improvement.
• Facilitate discussions with frontline employees, subject‑matter experts, managers, and leadership.
• Translate workshop findings into clear process documentation and actionable recommendations.
• Validate process maps and findings with business stakeholders.
• Support development of future‑state process improvements.
• Maintain organized documentation and communicate findings to project leadership.
• Work independently while managing multiple stakeholders and project priorities.
• Travel approximately 25‑40% throughout the U.S.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, process improvement, business analysis, or consulting.
• Strong working knowledge of freight forwarding operations and processes.
• Hands‑on experience with process mapping and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
• Experience facilitating process discovery and cross‑functional workshops.
• Ability to independently engage with diverse stakeholders and lead structured discussions.
• Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience with process mapping tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, or similar.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability and willingness to travel 25‑40% throughout the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Lean Six Sigma certification.
• Experience with international transportation, including ocean, air, customs, documentation, and billing processes.
• Experience supporting transformation or continuous improvement initiatives.
