Freight Coordinator/Admin
About the role
We’re looking for a highly self-motivated Freight Coordinator/Admin to join our Shipping and Receiving team within our Ypsilanti Plant at 775 James L Hart Parkway.
Responsibilities
- Create load plans and breakdowns analyzing customer specifications, quantity and number of pallets, weights etc.
- Arrange bookings with freight forwarders and trucking companies for shipment of live finished product and 'work in progress' product to customers or other PBL facilities.
- Negotiate best rate possible for shipments.
- Notify internal & external customers of shipping/delivery date and/or provide continuous updates regarding status of shipment.
- Track all security seals issued on shipments.
- Track status of shipments while enroute to destination ensuring problems resolved with shipment to avoid delays, notify manager and/or security as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 49CFR DOT certification is an asset
- IATA certification is an asset
- Forklift certification is an asset
- Basic mathematic skills
- Verbal and Written communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner
Ability to analyze information to make recommendations, decisions and judgments on how best to transport goods based on shipment size, client deadlines, processing delays, cost, carriers, etc.
Ability to adapt and adjust to changing priorities and multitask effectively
Self-starter who can budget time and resources and is able to work with minimal supervision
Ability to source information as needed to complete tasks accurately
Ability to deliver excellent customer service
Ability to recognize when issues/problems are about to occur and avert negative outcomes before they occur
Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines
