Freight Broker

The RoleAs a Freight Broker, you will source, negotiate, and secure carriers to move available freight in a timely and cost-effective manner. Compensation

Compensation range for this role: $21.64 hourly + Commission

What your day-to-day will look like

• Cultivate strong core carrier relationships while negotiating and securing carriers to move freight
• Maintain continuous communication with carriers and customers to ensure a high-quality freight movement process
• Ensure all parties are informed of route changes, delays, freight concerns or other issues as necessary
• Schedule pickup and delivery appointment times; use discretion and insight when considering all factors affecting timeframe, including weather, traffic, etc.
• Follow established procedures and protocols regarding HVS and HRC loads to ensure the integrity of the shipment and the brand
• Accurately maintain and update information in the company’s operating systems
• Conduct research in available databases for potential leads; make cold calls to prospects
• Track back-end billing and invoicing to ensure that carrier charges are accurate

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation or logistics
• Experience coordinating over-dimensional or heavy-haul loads
• A background in sales, account management, or customer service
• Proven success negotiating rates, timelines, or customer solutions

Details

• Location: Currently in Downtown Minneapolis with easy access to metro transit (bus and train).
• The team is relocating to a new office in the West End area in August.
• Schedule: Fully onsite Monday through Thursday. Shifts are either 7am to 4pm or 8am to 5pm depending on the account assigned, with flexibility based on preference.
• Flex Days: 14 additional flex days available, usable as extra work-from-home days or schedule adjustments.
