Freelance Sign Language Interpreter

About the role

Freelance interpreters are needed to support Community Services for the Deaf, a program of Family Services.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and effective communication between deaf and hearing individuals in various settings.
• Ensure clarity and understanding in all interactions, including educational, medical, and social contexts.
• Adhere to confidentiality policies and maintain the privacy of all clients.

Requirements

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Experience working in a professional interpreting environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (for on-site assignments).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (preferred).
• Current certification in ASL interpreting from a recognized organization.
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations regarding interpreter services.

Schedule
