About the role
Freelance interpreters are needed to support Community Services for the Deaf, a program of Family Services.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and effective communication between deaf and hearing individuals in various settings.
- Ensure clarity and understanding in all interactions, including educational, medical, and social contexts.
- Adhere to confidentiality policies and maintain the privacy of all clients.
Requirements
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Experience working in a professional interpreting environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (for on-site assignments).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (preferred).
- Current certification in ASL interpreting from a recognized organization.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations regarding interpreter services.
