Freelance Podcast Producer – Legal Interview Series
About the role
This role is ideal for an experienced podcast producer with a passion for criminal justice and storytelling. You will oversee the production of a new interview-based podcast focused on criminal defense topics, launching its first six-episode season. The show will feature guest interviews, primarily recorded remotely, with occasional in-person sessions in New York City. Each episode will run 30 to 45 minutes and require high-quality audio editing, mixing, and mastering for platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts. The position is part-time and contract-based, offering the opportunity to shape a compelling new series at the intersection of law and media.
Responsibilities
- Produce, edit, and master six podcast episodes (30–45 minutes each)
- Manage remote and in-person recording sessions, ensuring clear, professional audio quality
- Oversight sound design, mixing, and mastering for distribution on major podcast platforms
- Clock scheduling and logistics for guest interviews
- Create show notes and provide basic transcription support as needed
- Ensure timely delivery of episodes and maintain consistent production standards
Requirements
- Proven experience producing and editing interview or talk-format podcasts
- Advanced skills in audio editing, mixing, and mastering (e.g., Pro Tools, Audition, or similar)
- Familiarity with remote recording tools and multi-speaker audio workflows
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage production schedules
- Experience with legal, news, or current-affairs content is highly desirable
- Able to work independently and deliver reliable turnaround on tight deadlines
