  • Define target audience segments, positioning, and messaging
  • Set marketing budget priorities and allocate resources for maximum ROI
  • Guide brand voice, visual identity, and messaging consistency across channels
  • Oversee content strategy (blog, video, social, email) to build audience trust and engagement
  • Lead customer acquisition strategy across paid, organic, and lifecycle channels
  • Identify and prioritize highest-leverage growth channels for the current stage of the business
  • Set and track KPIs (CAC, LTV, conversion rates, funnel metrics)
  • Manage relationships with agencies, freelancers, or in-house marketing hires
  • Provide direction and feedback to contractors handling execution (design, ads, SEO, etc.)
  • Establish reporting cadence and dashboards for marketing performance
  • Present regular updates to leadership on progress against goals
  • Continuously test, learn, and optimize campaigns

Requirements

  • 8+ years of marketing experience, including senior/leadership roles (VP, Director, or CMO level)
  • Proven marketing leadership experience in EdTech and/or SaaS (B2B or B2C)
  • Demonstrated success transitioning organizations from paid-acquisition dependency to sustainable organic growth (SEO, content, community, referral, etc.)
  • Strong grasp of both brand marketing and performance marketing
  • Comfortable being hands-on — this role blends strategy with execution, especially in a lean team environment
  • Experience managing agencies, freelancers, or small marketing teams
  • Data-driven approach with fluency in marketing analytics tools
  • Excellent communication skills; able to work autonomously and report clearly to leadership
  • Must be based in the United States and authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Available for ~20 hours/week with flexibility to align with team working hours

Nice to Have

  • Experience scaling an early-stage or bootstrapped company
  • Existing network of trusted freelancers/agencies for design, paid media, SEO, etc.
