About the role
The FP&A Data Analyst builds the analytical backbone that connects financial systems, BI tools, and decision-makers. This hybrid role (finance + data + BI) owns the transformation of fragmented, manual reporting—starting with Product Profitability and core FP&A dashboards in Domo—into standardized, automated, and scalable reporting used across the enterprise. This is a hybrid role based in Herndon, VA, requiring on-site collaboration 2–3 days per week. Candidates should live within about 50 miles of the office.
Responsibilities
- Standardize the Product Profitability report by consolidating data sources into a repeatable, automated process with direct system connections, replacing manual spreadsheets.
- Streamline and standardize FP&A dashboards in Domo, ensuring consistent logic, definitions, and refresh cycles.
- Develop repeatable methods to transform and reconcile data from multiple source systems (ERP, CRM, data warehouse) into concise, governed enterprise reporting.
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Sales, Operations, and IT/Data teams to expand self-service insights at scale.
- Collaborate with FP&A to enhance pricing analytics and strengthen the link between pricing strategy and financial performance.
- Design, document, and maintain end-to-end process documentation for all reporting workflows to ensure continuity, auditability, and clean handoffs.
- Evolve productivity and performance measures; translate them into automated analytics and leadership dashboards.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting, reducing turnaround time and error rates.
- Serve as a subject-matter resource on data standardization, reporting governance, and dashboard design for Finance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data/Business Analytics, Economics, Statistics, or related field required; equivalent practical experience (4+ years directly relevant analytics work) may be considered.
- 3–5 years in data analytics, financial analytics, FP&A, or BI, with ownership of reporting/dashboard projects.
- Working knowledge of FP&A concepts (variance analysis, budgeting/forecasting, margin/profitability, pricing analytics).
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining dashboards in Domo or comparable BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
- Strong data-wrangling skills: SQL and/or Excel (Power Query, pivots, advanced formulas); Python or similar scripting a plus.
- Experience designing/improving data pipelines and integrations between source systems and reporting platforms.
- Ability to translate ambiguous, cross-functional requests into structured, repeatable reporting solutions.
- Clear written and verbal communication; strong documentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in PE-backed environments supporting executive reporting and rapid scaling.
- Track record of standing up net-new reporting processes or leading data standardization initiatives.
- Exposure to product/customer-level profitability analysis in technology, software, or defense/government contracting.
- Familiarity with data governance or data cataloging in a finance context.
