Key Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional inspections of castings, tooling, fixtures, and patterns using precision measuring equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements to verify compliance with customer specifications.
- Utilize calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, surface plates, and layout equipment for accurate measurements.
- Record inspection data and prepare measurement reports.
- Identify dimensional nonconformances and communicate findings to Quality and Engineering teams.
- Assist in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
- Support first article inspections, PPAP submissions, tooling validation, and new product launches.
- Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration requirements are met.
- Ensure documentation is complete and supports traceability and quality audits.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Technical training in Manufacturing, Machining, Mechanical Technology, Drafting, or Metrology is a plus.
- 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing, quality inspection, dimensional inspection, or engineering technician roles.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T.
- Experience Using Precision Measuring Instruments, Including Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, Dial Indicators, Surface Plates, and Layout Equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- FARO Arm or Laser Scanner experience.
- Knowledge of cast iron, aluminum, or steel casting processes.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 quality systems.
- Experience supporting Manufacturing Engineering or Quality Engineering teams.
