This is a unique opportunity to become the first dedicated Product Manager at a fast-growing clean energy technology company transforming how commercial real estate owners adopt solar and battery storage. You will build the product management function from the ground up, defining the roadmap, research practices, and decision-making frameworks that guide product development. Working closely with Engineering, Sales, Marketplace Operations, and leadership, you will turn complex customer needs into practical, high-impact solutions. You will own the product lifecycle from discovery and prototyping through delivery, measurement, and continuous improvement. With significant autonomy and a strong emphasis on AI-assisted workflows, you will help shape how a modern product team operates. Your work will directly support the expansion of clean energy infrastructure and the decarbonization of commercial buildings. Accountabilities As Founding Product Manager, you will establish the product vision and operating practices needed to deliver an exceptional solar and storage marketplace experience. You will combine customer research, commercial insight, and technical collaboration to prioritize meaningful outcomes and accelerate product development. Your responsibilities will include: Own and continuously refine the product roadmap for a commercial solar and storage marketplace, aligning priorities with customer needs, business objectives, and measurable outcomes. Lead product discovery, gathering insights from commercial building owners, solar developers, and internal stakeholders through regular interviews and research activities. Translate customer feedback and business requirements into clear product specifications, implementation-ready prototypes, and actionable guidance for engineering teams. Define success metrics before launch, monitor product performance after release, and use results to guide future improvements and investment decisions. Coordinate cross-functional collaboration among Engineering, Sales, Marketplace Operations, and leadership to align priorities, resolve competing requirements, and maintain delivery momentum. Make informed prioritization decisions by balancing user value, technical complexity, available resources, and commercial impact. Establish and develop product management practices, including research methods, roadmap planning, documentation standards, and product evaluation frameworks. Apply AI-assisted tools and workflows to accelerate research synthesis, prototyping, specification writing, and product development. Contribute to product design, user experience, and product marketing decisions in collaboration with internal teams, helping fill gaps where dedicated specialist resources are not available. Communicate product decisions clearly through concise written documentation tailored to engineers, operational teams, leadership, and customers. Encourage experimentation and continuous improvement while maintaining a clear focus on customer outcomes and business performance. Help advance the adoption of solar and battery storage by improving the experience of commercial property owners and clean energy developers throughout the transaction process. Requirements The ideal candidate is an experienced product leader who enjoys building from scratch, navigating ambiguity, and taking ownership of both strategic decisions and execution. You should combine strong product judgment with customer empathy, commercial awareness, and excellent written communication. The following qualifications are required or preferred: At least five years of product management experience in a startup or high-growth environment. Demonstrated ownership of end-to-end product cycles, from discovery and prioritization through delivery, launch, and performance measurement. Fluency in AI-assisted product development workflows, including the use of large language models (LLMs) to accelerate prototyping, synthesize research, and write product specifications. Strong visual and UX judgment, with the ability to shape intuitive product experiences in an environment without a dedicated designer. Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to document business context, customer needs, product requirements, and technical decisions clearly enough to minimize unnecessary clarification. Proven ability to own and defend a product roadmap, make difficult prioritization decisions, and influence stakeholders when resources are constrained. Strong business acumen, with the ability to evaluate trade-offs between customer value, technical feasibility, and commercial outcomes. Experience designing and conducting customer interviews, synthesizing qualitative feedback, and translating research findings into product priorities. A proactive, independent approach to problem-solving, with the ability to make sound decisions using incomplete information. Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, including the ability to align engineering, operations, sales, and leadership without creating unnecessary delays. Comfort challenging assumptions, exploring multiple solutions, making decisive recommendations, and adapting quickly when new evidence emerges. Genuine curiosity about emerging technologies and a willingness to rethink traditional product management practices as AI changes how teams build software. Motivation to contribute to clean energy adoption and meaningful progress toward decarbonizing the built environment. Experience in commercial real estate, legal technology, or other complex, transaction-based industries. Previous customer-facing experience in roles such as Customer Success or Sales. Remote work: Fully remote work within the United States, with access to a San Francisco office. Team collaboration: Quarterly in-person, all-team working weeks to support collaboration and team alignment. Home office support: A stipend for home office setup and equipment. Learning and development: An annual $500 learning budget. High ownership and visibility: Direct collaboration with engineering and leadership, with meaningful influence over product direction and business priorities.
