Founding Engineer (up to $220k)

About the role

This role is a Founding Engineer position within a company building AI automation for a critical, traditionally manual process: SOX audit testing. The company is backed by leading investors at pre-seed stage and the founding team brings deep engineering leadership from successful AI and venture-backed startups.

Responsibilities

• Own the backbone of the product end-to-end: from data processing and UI to the agent harness, evaluation, and deployment.
• Drive product direction and roadmap decisions, balancing customer needs with long-term system health.
• Apply cutting-edge AI models to complex, real-world audit problems, prioritizing pragmatic, scalable solutions.
• Engage directly with customers to understand pain points and validate solutions.

Requirements

Based in San Francisco and able to work in person with the founding team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building, launching, and scaling production systems as a software engineer.
• Hands-on experience with AI-driven solutions, pushing the capabilities of modern models while maintaining engineering pragmatism.
• Thriving in ambiguity, owning problems end-to-end with minimal guidance, and iterating quickly.
• Comfortable engaging directly with customers to gather feedback and validate solutions.

Skills

• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and practices.
• Experience with machine learning and AI model development.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
