Founding Engineer (up to $220k)

About the role

This team is building AI-powered automation for SOX audit testing, replacing manual work with a fully agentic approach. They're tackling a massive, underserved market in a traditional industry, backed by leading investors. This isn't just another AI wrapper; it's a fundamental shift in how compliance is done.

As a Founding Engineer, you'll own the core product end-to-end. This means scoping, building, and launching features from data processing to UI, agent harness, evaluation, and deployment. You won't be handing off work to other teams; you'll shape the product roadmap directly with the founders, balancing customer needs with long-term technical health. This role is for someone who thrives on full ownership and impact, not just executing on a pre-defined spec.

Responsibilities

• Develop and scale the backbone of an AI-powered audit product, from initial concept to production deployment.
• Take end-to-end ownership of features, covering data processing, user interface, agent harness development, and evaluation systems.
• Help define product direction and shape the engineering roadmap, integrating customer feedback with strategic technical vision.
• Implement robust, auditable decision logs and evidence management systems for critical compliance workflows.
• Engage directly with early customers to understand their needs and iterate rapidly on solutions.

Requirements

• You've built, launched, and scaled production systems as a software engineer.
• You have experience developing AI-driven solutions, pushing the boundaries of what's possible with modern models.
• You balance research curiosity with engineering pragmatism, preferring proven methods where they fit.
• You thrive in autonomy, owning problems end-to-end and iterating quickly with limited guidance.
• You are based in San Francisco and eager to work in person with a founding team.
