About the role

The Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering at IUPUI seeks an exceptional scholar, educator, visionary, and dynamic leader to serve as Professor and Founding Chair of a new Department of Computer Science. This position is part of a broader initiative to transform Indiana University Indianapolis into a next-generation urban research university.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a new Department of Computer Science at IUPUI
  • Build a world-class and accessible computer science program
  • Foster innovation and drive research excellence
  • Engage in economic development through computer science initiatives
  • Train future leaders in computer science for Indiana and beyond

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science or a related field
  • Proven record of academic leadership and success
  • Experience in building and leading interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to engage with industry partners and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Exceptional teaching skills and ability to mentor students
  • Research expertise in areas relevant to computer science
  • Experience in grant writing and securing external funding
