About the role
The Founding Board Member - Fundraising & Strategic Partnerships (Volunteer) position at Guideship is an exciting opportunity for individuals with experience in fundraising, philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, corporate partnerships, workforce development, government relations, or community engagement. Guideship is entering a growth phase and seeks to establish a sustainable fundraising strategy to support scholarships, apprenticeships, mentorship programs, and career development opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic guidance on fundraising and organizational growth
- Identify potential donors, sponsors, foundations, and partners
- Introduce Guideship to prospective supporters and community stakeholders
- Mentor a fundraising intern responsible for developing and executing a 10-week fundraising plan
- Participate in quarterly board meetings and occasional planning sessions
- Serve as an ambassador for Guideship's mission
- Aid in long-term sustainability planning

Prior fundraising or development experience, experience serving on nonprofit boards or advisory councils, established professional networks that may support workforce development initiatives, passion for creating opportunities for underserved communities, interest in cybersecurity, technology, education, workforce development, or apprenticeship programs, and time commitment of approximately 2-4 hours per month, with flexibility based on availability and interest.
