About the role
This remote opportunity is for U.S.-based founders and CEOs who want to monetize unused or retired datasets from their company. You will work with Specific to identify company-owned data with responsible commercial potential, document how it was created and may be used, and evaluate opportunities to license it for AI training, research, or other approved applications.
Location: United States only
Engagement: Flexible contract projects
Compensation: $5k/month pilot
Schedule: Flexible; varies by dataset and partnership
Responsibilities
- Identify unused, archived, discontinued, or retired company datasets that may have legitimate commercial value.
- Explain each dataset’s contents, provenance, collection methods, historical purpose, format, scale, and known quality limitations.
- Coordinate with internal legal, privacy, security, and data owners to confirm the company has authority to evaluate and license the data.
- Work with Specific to assess buyer demand, define appropriate use cases and restrictions, and structure a responsible monetization opportunity.
Requirements
- Currently based in the United States.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Current or former founder, CEO, or senior executive with credible knowledge of a company’s data assets and authority to explore a potential data partnership.
- Access to an unused or retired dataset that the company owns or is legally permitted to license; do not submit confidential, restricted, personal, or third-party data without written company authorization.
- Ability to describe the dataset accurately and coordinate the necessary internal review before any data is transferred.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with data licensing, enterprise partnerships, AI products, research datasets, or other business-to-business commercialization initiatives.
- Familiarity with data governance, privacy, consent, intellectual property, retention, and contractual usage restrictions.
- Datasets with clear provenance, useful metadata, meaningful scale, and specialized coverage that would be difficult to reproduce.
