About the role

The Foundation Room Host is responsible for meeting, greeting, and seating all guests with a positive, friendly, and helpful attitude. You will serve as a general source of information to all guests entering the venue.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all guests promptly and courteously in a professional manner.
  • Control the flow of guests coming into the restaurant and those waiting for a table.
  • Obtain guests' names, number in party, physical description (for pager system units), arrival times, and any needs for children when applicable.
  • Anticipate and respond to guest needs to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Direct guests to appropriate waiting areas when on a wait and estimate/quote accurate wait times for tables.
  • Lead guests to tables, place menus, and ensure they are seated before leaving.
  • Market current and future shows, menu items, and retail by placing marketing literature on dining tables.
  • Answer guest questions regarding the menu, music hall, and artists appearing at the House of Blues.
  • Manage foundation access lists, industry access, dinner reservation sheets, and passes for the evening.
  • Pick up guest lists for special events and handle concert tickets and signature sheets.
  • Obtain the Production sheet for the current night and check current member and spouse lists.
  • Verify foundation membership cards and photo IDs, and adhere to the HOB dress code policy for the foundation lounge.
  • Distribute wristbands and/or opera box passes.
  • Thank each guest for visiting and invite them to return in a friendly and sincere manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of House of Blues related art, music, and history.
  • Adhere to the HOB Hospitality Zone and maintain House of Blues safety and sanitation standards.
  • Communicate with other support departments (door host, kitchen, Foundation Room Managers) to ensure proper flow.
  • Notify the kitchen when large parties or special event parties have been seated.
  • Maintain a clean and organized host area throughout the shift, including polishing entry door windows and keeping the floor free of spills or obstacles.
  • Maintain proper par levels for kid menus, crayons, fliers, matches, toothpicks, and calendars at the host stand.
  • Circulate through the work area to maintain line of sight and atmosphere control.
  • Assist other employees and departments as needed, demonstrating teamwork.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and attend pre-shift meetings conducted by the Manager on Duty.
