Foundation Relations Officer
About the role
The Environmental Law & Policy Center (ELPC) is seeking a dynamic Foundation Relations Officer to join its team. ELPC is the Midwest's leading environmental legal advocacy organization, driving transformative policy changes with national impact. They advocate for sustainable practices, promote clean energy and transportation, protect the Great Lakes, and ensure safe, clean water and air.
Responsibilities
- Research, identify, and develop new foundation prospects.
- Proactively cultivate relationships with foundation staff and funders by attending various events.
- Write persuasive letters of inquiry and grant proposals in a timely manner and pitch them to funders to secure new funding.
- Collaborate with ELPC’s development team and program staff to prepare reports, funding requirements, and renewal proposals.
- Persuasively follow up on submissions to drive funding success.
- Support fundraising events and outreach activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 4-6 years of development experience, with at least 2 years focused on foundation relations and grant writing, preferably in the environmental sector.
- Demonstrated success in securing major grants from foundations.
- Experience and connections within the Midwest environmental philanthropic sector is highly valued.
- Exceptional writing skills, attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and the ability to follow up promptly.
- Good problem-solving and negotiation skills, with a high level of creativity and innovation.
- Results-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines and goals.
- Strong environmental knowledge and experience is preferred.
- Ability to operate independently and collaborate with a diverse team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word.
Benefits
ELPC offers a competitive salary and benefits package, ranging from $62,000 to $78,000 based on experience.
Schedule
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) with a hybrid work environment that includes required days in the office each week.
